Cultural Integration and the Impact of Globalization on Vietnamese Youth

Abstract

This article aims to achieve the following objectives: explore how globalization has changed the lifestyle, values, and mindset of Vietnamese youth; identify foreign cultural factors affecting the habits, preferences, and behaviors of Vietnamese adolescents; study the development of international academic programs, online courses, and student exchanges; evaluate the accessibility of Vietnamese students to international learning and research opportunities; analyze the professions and fields where Vietnamese youth have strong development opportunities in the context of globalization; assess the skills and competencies that young people need to compete effectively in the international labor market; investigate how Vietnamese youth maintain and transform traditional cultural values in the context of adopting new cultures; and evaluate the level of conflict and harmony between traditional and modern values in the lives of young people. The article also provides recommendations and solutions on educational and cultural policies to support youth in accessing and leveraging the opportunities that globalization brings, while suggesting measures to help young people maintain and promote national cultural identity during the process of international integration. The results show that the majority of respondents (68%) are not aware of the concept of "globalization", indicating a lack of information and education about globalization among young people in Vietnam. Overall, Vietnamese youth tend to positively approach and respond to the influences of globalization, with international information access and participation in international cultural activities being very common. However, there are still concerns that foreign cultures may weaken or change the traditional cultural identity of Vietnam. This requires careful consideration in the process of integration and protection of traditional culture.
