Abstract

This study investigates the impact of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) tourism on the economic development of workers in Pichincha, Ecuador. A census-based survey of 18 MICE companies and their employees found a strong positive correlation (r=0.87, p<0.001) between MICE tourism and worker economic development. Regression analysis further revealed that MICE tourism contributes 97% of the variance in worker economic development (R²=0.76). These findings confirm that the MICE industry generates high-value, stable jobs that significantly enhance the quality of life for employees, underscoring its pivotal role as an economic engine and driver of local development in Pichincha, Ecuador.
