Abstract

Women have faced serious limitations in their insertion into the labor and production markets, marked by discrimination and stereotypes that have devalued their labor force in comparison with that of men. This situation underscores the urgent need to improve their participation and create new labor opportunities. Business units have been proposed to boost the generation of entrepreneurship, with the aim of gradually increasing family income. This paper focuses on exploring the concept of entrepreneurship from a conceptual perspective, highlighting that entrepreneurship implies the ability of people to move forward with innovative ideas. An analysis of the main characteristics of entrepreneurs is carried out, revealing that the average age of those who start early ventures is 36 years old. Although historically there has been a parity between men and women in terms of entrepreneurship, it is currently observed that women are more frequent entrepreneurs, representing 51.1%. Female entrepreneurship is emerging as a prominent player in the national economy. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), approximately 54% of women in Ecuador plan to become microentrepreneurs in the next three years.
