Abstract

The study aimed to identify obstacles facing students in the first three grades in acquiring listening skills from the point of view of English language teachers in Naour District- Jordan. The descriptive approach was used. A questionnaire on listening skill obstacles was developed, consisting of (25) paragraphs, which was applied to a sample of English language teachers. The study sample consisted of (105) teachers. The results showed that the field of obstacles related to student, educational means and techniques came in first place, and the field of obstacles related to the teacher came in last place. While there were no statistically significant differences in the obstacles facing students attributed to the variables (academic qualification and years of experience of the teacher). The study recommended employing technological means and techniques that would raise the level of students in learning listening skills for primary school students in Jordan.
