Among all the characteristics of courts and judiciaries, the assurance of independence of the judiciary is without a doubt essential. This paper focuses on the strengthening of the judiciary after the Lawyers' Movement in Pakistan, needless to mention that the said movement brought a significant change in the country's legal system. This study aims to answer three major questions, (a) The True meaning and scope of judicial independence, (b) The Need for Judicial independence in the empowerment of the judicial branch, (c) Status of judicial independence after the Lawyers’ movement in Pakistan. This study's conclusion displays comprehensive political evolution in the government along with a considerable transformation in the judicial techniques, especially, the independence of the judicial branch after the game-changing event of history, the lawyers’ movement in 2007.
