Abstract

Sogamoso is a city in Colombia that, despite having different sites of tourist interest and a broad cultural and historical heritage, has suffered a reduced influx of visitors in recent years. This problem has harmed the progress and development of the region. This study focused on interpreting the people's perception of Sogamoso regarding this problem and, based on this, designing a strategy framed in the creative economy as a possible solution to the established needs. Sixty participants directly related to the tourism sector were involved in the study process. Methodologically, the research corresponded to a qualitative study with a descriptive scope and was framed in an action research design. The study's findings made it possible to establish that it is urgent to design strategies to promote tourism. On the other hand, the research literature provided evidence that the creative economy is influential in tourism development, concluding that its linkage is a fundamental element for tourism promotion in Colombian cities.
